Closing Out 2025 with Connection, Courage, and Community

As we reflect on 2025, one word rises above the rest for the Bay Area Military Network (BAMN): connection. This year reinforced the power of bringing together military spouses, service members, veterans, and veteran advocate groups—especially in a region without the traditional structure of a large installation. Through meaningful partnerships and intentional programming, we closed out the year with moments that truly embodied our mission.

Honoring Service, Healing, and Partnership Through Brothers After War

One of the most impactful moments of 2025 was welcoming the Gary Sinise Foundation and its Brothers After War program to our Bay Area military community. This event was made possible through collaboration, and we are deeply grateful for the partnership and support of the Palo Alto VA Medical Center and the Santa Clara Veterans Department.

Together, we created a space where veterans, active-duty service members, military spouses, and veteran advocates could come together for open dialogue and shared understanding. The conversations were honest, powerful, and deeply human—reminding us that the impacts of service do not end with a change of status, and that community-based support plays a critical role in healing and resilience.

For many in the Bay Area military community—stationed far from traditional bases and familiar support systems—this collaboration demonstrated what is possible when national organizations and local partners align around a shared commitment to care, connection, and quality of life. It was a meaningful example of how partnerships strengthen our collective ability to serve those who serve.

Celebrating Joy, Generosity, and Community at Our Ladies-Only Ornament Exchange

As important as reflection and healing are, so too is joy—and our Ladies-Only Ornament Exchange was a standout reminder of the strength of this community. The turnout exceeded all expectations, and we were truly blown away by the number of military spouses, women veterans, and community members who showed up to support one another.

Even more meaningful was how everyone pitched in to make the evening a success. From bringing ornaments and food, to helping set up, clean up, and welcome new faces, the event became a shared effort in the best possible way. It wasn’t just an exchange of ornaments—it was an exchange of stories, encouragement, laughter, and belonging.

These moments matter. They remind us that strong military communities are built when people feel valued, included, and empowered to contribute. The success of the Ornament Exchange was a direct reflection of the generosity and commitment of the people who make up the BAMN Network.
